As a consumer advocate, I want to make sure that all of you protect your rights in case you are involved in a car accident. The last thing that you want is for a dishonest person to take advantage of you.

If you are involved in a car accident then you should do the following:

1. List the name, address, phone number and driver’s license number of all the parties involved.

2. Get the car registration information.If driver is not the owner of the car then get the owner’s name, address, phone number and insurance information.

3. Obtain the insurance company name, policy number, expiration date, phone
number and address for each of the parties involved.

4. Write the vehicle year, make, model, color and license plate number

5. If the other party admits fault at the scene then ask them if they will put
it in writing and sign at that moment.

6. Look around for any witnesses. Get their names, address, and phone numbers.
